Apostoic Venn

Christian Stoicism for a more contented life.

Stoic and Christian values, though born from wildly different worldviews, share a surprising overlap when it comes to building an unshakeable character. Both Stoicism and Christianity emphasize cultivating resilience and perseverance that smile in the face of chaos and handle “suffering with a smirk” (our Apostoic catchphrase). For Stoics, it’s all about controlling what you can; your thoughts, words, actions, and reactions, while accepting the rest with the tranquility of a monk. Christianity, meanwhile, provides the answers and motives that Stoicism cannot (why pursue virtue? In whose control are the indifferents?), urging believers to trust in God’s providence and turn trials into “hold my beer” moments. Within the Christian and Stoic venn overlap, there lives a holy detachment from that which you cannot control, enhanced by the reason of the Stoics, and perfected in faith in Christ as the King of all. An adherent to the Christian faith, and an aspirant to the sweeping call to wisdom, temperance, and peace set forth in broader strokes in the scriptures, may benefit from the practical doses of concise and targeted thinking the stoic writers have to offer, as a supplemental toolbox for bringing their character and mentality a little closer to Christlikeness.

Who We Are

Apostoic Venn was founded in 2025 by Daniel Spencer Cook, an unshakable believer in Jesus Christ and devoted churchman. For Dan, the reality of the human condition and the way of redemption from it, as set forth in the Old and New Testaments, is the only thing that makes sense out of this world. An enormous proponent of reading, though never as well read as he’d like to be, Dan reads opposing views, alternative beliefs, the great works of literature, the crappy ones, theology, self-help and financial books, fiction, technology, and literally any other thing. All topics are fair game in his interests. In that pursuit, he discovered stoicism and loved it, not as a replacement or parallel for his faith, but as a supplement to his character.

In 2026, Dan reconnected with an old friend from Covenant Christian, Samuel Davis. In a few conversations, Dan’s aspirations to being “well read” were thoroughly embarrassed and retarded, and after a brief and futile struggle to keep up with Sam, he threw in the towel. “If you can’t beat ‘em, recruit ‘em!” he thought, and Sam joined Apostoic as a full partner in crime.

The two now engage in tri-weekly strategy meetings, where they plan their next moves, articles, podcasts, and pray together for God to make His use of the Apostoic ministry.

Guest-Posting Policy

Apostoic Venn has an ecumenical attitude. We seek to join hands with allies from other branches of Christ’s church, and march side by side. Our topics are wide-spread and far reaching. We welcome guest post submissions, and will lend our platform to those that are a fit. If you’ve got something for our culture, don’t hesitate to write an article and submit it to us for guest-post consideration. We do not need to align with everything our guests have ever produced in order to platform a valuable piece. Our consideration is article by article.
